A creative space for a creative agency…To house their growing business, progressive advertising agency Inhouse wanted a contemporary Asian residential atmosphere not conventionally associated with an office environment. We built a mezzanine floor in the double height penthouse suite to maximise usable floor space and views, the challenge was to camouflage the office looking elements of the interior and create a spatially powerful insertion while using lightweight and temporary construction techniques for the new floor.
The concept involved a timber ribbon that folds and defines the interior while addressing the complex angles of the existing building structure. Elements enveloped within this ribbon include a cantilevered glass conference box room, two double-height executive offices, a library and staircase. Local Thai treated rubber wood was used for the ceilings, walls and floors of the mezzanine area which provides a minimal monotone Asian aesthetic.
