The Kempinski in Delhi is now an imposing 480 key, 5 star hotel with a distinctive exterior that instantly establishes their modern, luxury credentials. The façade, designed by Orbit, is pivotal in making this a landmark.
The Façade concept is a modern interpretation of traditional Indian screens and grew out of the existing ratio between solid and void. Out of this proportion, the façade grew and developed to become the distinctive feature it is today, which became known as Puzzle. The interlocking elements, applied to existing walls and beams, minimised visual obstruction from the guestrooms and became a key design element used at different scales throughout the property. A final achievement was the consolidation of the two towers into one, unified building through the bridging element at the top of the hotel.
